FAQ's
How much practise do I need to
do?
As much as you like, but there is no substitute for practise so the
more you do, the quicker you will learn. I recommend starting with short
sessions of 15 minutes a day, increasing to 30 minutes and then more if
possible.
Do I need a piano or can I use an electronic keyboard?
Electronic keyboards are fine, but will never match a real piano for
sound, feel and the musical expression that you can achieve.
Can I just learn classical music?
Of course, and you can choose to take grade exams if you wish.
Do I have to learn classical music?
No, you can choose to learn any style you like. If you want to do
Country and Western, then that’s what we’ll do.
How long is a lesson?
Most pupils have a 30 minute lesson, some choose 45 minutes because it
is more relaxed and we can cover more ground. A 60 minute lesson every
fortnight is also possible.
How soon before I can play along to my favourite band?
It depends on the complexity of the music, but most pupils can play
along to a simple song in a few weeks.
Can I learn at home?
Yes, I can do home visits, depending upon where you live of course.
